lost:(

i think all artline pens are against me. I just lost my art pen last week in the lecture room. And today I'm searching for my newly-bought art pen and I can't find it again!:'(

*sadness*... maybe this is a sign to stop spending too much time on using my artline pen...

lesson learnt

Two day weekdays are oh so o-some:D Interesting this week we had a 5 day holiday and 2 days for classes... just started on thursday and before you know it, it's finally friday!:)

I learnt an extremely invaluable lesson on thursday. Okay, first of all, I've lost the habit of doodling on my notes now that I'm in college. Because I sit allll the way at the front all the time and the lecturer can always peek at what I'm writing. And also because I have to take down notes allll the ime. And because if I miss anything, it is really hazardous (yes, hazardous) for moi.

And IF i DO start doodling again, I know I'll be reminded not to; one way or another. Allah taught me to respect the lecturer upfront.

It all began on Thursday... during pengajian malaysia. Well, cut the long story short, we were having presentations on the rebelling of the orang melayu terhadap penjajahan british. So each group had to present on a state's rebelling. Ours was selangor and there was something about lanun. Kaktqa made the multimedia presentation so she made it all pretty with pictures and everything. I got kinda attracted to the image of the pirate that i started drawing on the same paper as my mindmap notes; considering I've been holding back from drawing for sooo long...

At the end of the class while Ms Haliza was commenting on our presentations, she started talking about note-taking and suddenly she took up my paper (since I was sitting at the front) to show everyone about effectiveness of mindmaps; while i started in horror at my superly handsome pirate-manga at the bottom left of my paper. I cringed and closed my eyes and just stared hopelessly at kaktqa next to me as she (kaktqa) laughed. So I didn't get to hear a word of what Ms Haliza said but I don't think she commented anything about it.

After that, i vowed never to doodle or sketch in class again. Allah has taught me in a subtle way of being more attentive in class. This is to share a great lesson; about respect, paying attention and not drawing on your notes while sitting in front.

me?

As analyzed by a friend. Comment if this really sounds like the person I am:

Expansiveness, visionary, adventure, the constructive use of freedom

She can do so many things well. She is good at presenting ideas and knowing how to approach people to get what she wants. Whatever she does, she is clever, analytical, and a very quick thinker.
Her restless and impatient attitude may keep her from staying with any project for too long. Sometimes she can be rather erratic and scatter herself and her energies.

She has especially high intelligence, with an unusual perception and awareness. She is a very capable person and she possesses special leadership abilities that she can and should develop. People respect her and recognize her superior foresight and vision.

She dreams of being a leader and one who is in charge. She wants to be known for her courage, daring, and original ideas. She seeks unconquered heights. People may get a first impression that she are very aggressive and sure of herself.

plasmodesmata

I know it's such an unrelated title but this was the exact word I've been searching for on the tip of my tongue for the past 3 days. Ever since I saw Syarif's mindmap on cell structure, I kept thinking of the word for the cell 'glue' to hold the plant cells together. I was looking for THIS word but apparently, the meaning does not connect to the term. Plasmodesmata is the channel between adjacent cells.

We once named a cat which kept coming to the college Modes. As in Mo.des. Not modes the whole word. Because we've just learnt about plant cell structure that time. I was trying to recall the cat's name. Finally my neurons synapsed at the right connections.

Anyways, finally got to meet with THE iman azman. I make her sound like a celebrity; but yeah, she is one to me:) Did the usual stuff... save the world, eradicate poverty... though perhaps on a smaller scale. I saved her from her world of boredom with boggle... and she eradicated my temporary poverty with cookies and camaraderie:)

I've learnt my lesson through the hard way not to have lunch with two too intelligent people who enjoys speaking against certain cultures. You two shall never have a meal together again.

Nevertheless, I shalt live with it. Thank you for the day sayang^^

how to make a beetle

Siraj is an absolute expert in making origamis. He's been doing it so many times from books, magazines and manuals that now, he can come out with his own. So we've been urging him to compile all his masterpieces into a book:)

So last night he finally came out with:
How to make a Beetle.

I couldn't help but smile and laugh at his really unique style of steps. I guess that's his niche then eyh:) I love steps 5 and 6:P

Aaaand that's half of the steps to completion but this is how it ends up at the end!:D

Impressive eyh?;)

rat slicing day

The inevitable day has arrived.

Cannot believe I woke up this morning with stomach pains. And half asleep trying to get 3 assignments done in one night. Just thought it could not get any worse when I remembered that it's Rat-Slicing Day.

My housemates making jokes when I was eating breakfast like saying things like "Imagine crunching the rat bones" and squealing with glee that we're dissecting rodents. How more exciting can it be?

It sounds all dramatic but yeah, it went surprisingly well. To be honest, it got interesting after I got over the "omg we're gonna cut through a living -fainted- animal and inspect its insides" phase.

Cut the skin, cut off the layer and all the organs spilled out. Started prodding and fingering the digestive system when we (me and my partner) realized we're supposed to identify them. Managed to pinpoint most of the organs but missed out a few. It's difficult to be able to identify them when they're all piled up on top of each other and all mixed up. You'd have thought the small and large intestines can be differentiated with their size and length but noOoOoo they're both the same colour and everything. And so we had to trace all the way from the stomach through the intestines to note which is ACTUALLY the small intestines. We had to identify them infront of our lab instructor and missed out on finding the bile duct and pancreas. Mistook the pancreas for the spleen. Oh well.

Something really amazing we saw was that the heart was still beating. MashaAllah...

1 dissection down, 2 more to go. Thank you to those who have prayed I survived through this ordeal.

insane things to keep sane

It's so funny that I have to write a few posts on ONE day concerning my previous week. Iman, this is to make up for all those other unposted blogs. Now u can't scream at me anymore:P

WEDNESDAY 23rd Jan 2009

Tomorrow would be a no-core subject class so as always, we would have a relaxing assignment-free evening. Class ended early for once (wednesdays are always the most horrifying LONGEST day 8am-6pm) at 4pm so we (my housemates) decided to have an early dinner together. After that suddenly kaktqa went "jom buat nakal skit hari ni."

And apparently her buat nakal is to eat ice cream. So we all went to the kedai runcit closeby and each got ice cream. Went into qila's car (all 7 of us sardinely squeezed in her proton saga) and suddenly najah went "Let's go to the park!"
So off we went. I think if people saw us, they would be thinking we have just been released from the mental asylum. Or that we've never seen a park before. At first we finished off our melting ice creams and after that started running around up and down grassy hills barefooted. Kicked of our shoes and climbed the huge "garden clock" structure. At one point, I got caught in between the minute hand and this short hedge... Sprang out just in time and rolled all over the grass Lol. Jumped here and there and laughed like there's no tomorrow. It's good to do crazy things sometimes. Its ironic but perhaps its the insane things that keep you sane:)
More pictures I wanted to put up but they are with alina... Will post them up once I get my hands on them:)
