with flying colours.

I heard one of the most inspiring stories ever told in my life today. What makes it more inspiring was that we heard it from the person himself....

Today we had a forum at CUCMS as part of the finishing school program. The topic was; How to Survive in CUCMS with Flying Colours. I found it quite a funny topic (the title that is). But the speakers were astoundingly amazing. It was one of the panelists who really impressed me with his story.

He is a first year medical student. But did not have and science background in his secondary school. He was in ma'had tahfiz and took exams (eg PMR) as a private candidate. And for his form 5 exam, all he learnt was sastera. No physics, biology or chemistry. He went for the interview at CUCMS due to his aspiring wish to become a doctor and discussed it with the head of foundation. After much discussion, he entered CUCMS with conditional offer. He entered in July. And sat for Olevel science papers (bio phys and chem) in November. In that same year. He passed with 'flying colours'. And now he is a medical student.

I was so perplexed and ultimately amazed at such an outcome and was deeply impressed! It gave me the motivation and inspiration to strive on and keep going because sometimes you feel like "why did I choose this type of lifestyle?". With the non-stop incoming assignments and sleepless nights and the fast-track classes. It will only get tougher... But that story really inspired me. And I shall succeed!

With hardwork and determination. InsyaAllah.

Five.

I like to sleep with a pillow over my head. With another pillow under my head of course. So it's like I'm sandwiched between two pillows:P I'm not so sure why... Probably to block out the light because I like to sleep with my door a bit open (while the light outside is on)... But basically I just feel like I NEED a pillow on my head yknow? Perhaps to block out any creepy crawlies from entering my ears like the mind-controlling leech thingies in Animorphs.

I like the smell of books. It might sound weird... But that's just how it is. When I enter Kino or MPH or borders, it's just such a wonderful feeling... It may be a feeling that u LIKE to be surrounded by books but to me, it feels like the smell of it. Specially new books.

I like clean new paper:) To draw on. There are too many possibilities of what may be on that paper. The creativity is endless.

I like to clean when under stress. When I can't study or seem to get anything into my head, I'd spring clean my room (and end up doing my cupboard and my drawers....). Or reorganize the kitchen (at my condo-hostel). Or wipe the washing machine. Or sweep the stairs. I am that weird. Maybe I like to do it because since I can't seem to accomplish anything in my books, at least I can accomplish stuff around me; ie my environment.

I dislike cockroaches. I have been stalked by a cockroach once. When I came back to cyberia, there was a HUGE cockroach on the curtains and I ran out at once (my mom sighed "Macam mane nak jadi doktor ni?"). And after I thought it was safe, I opened my cupboard and found it crawling behind my CUCMS shirt and ran out once again; to get Qila's and Azra's professional help. When they came, it wasn't there and suddenly it JUMPED onto Azra. And I ran out. Again. Aaaand Qila got it, wrapped it with tissues; and squished it. With her hands. And threw it in the dustbin downstairs. Next day, when I opened the lid of the dustbin, it JUMPED out and i ran upstairs and didn't dare come downstairs again. After convincing myself that it was gone, I went downstairs, only to be greeted with (probably the same) cockroach again. Which then Alina sprayed it til it pleargh-ed. (no, there is no such word. I made it up). If that is not stalking, i don't know what is... *shudders*

Iftar

i love breaking fast during the month of ramadhan:)

So this year, instead of Adni, Surau and home, there are two new venue of breaking fast which is at Cyberia and at CUCMS.

The past few years I broke fast at Adni once a year coz of the iftar and... and together with Adnians at Surau As-Shakirin at Damansara. Surau at Taman Dagang is a norm because my dad is the Chairman there... and home; of course. What is home without mama's cooking?:)

This year it's a bit different. Sometimes we break fast at cyberia because kak tqa cooks!:) Which is really a nikmat because i absolutely love her cooking. Sometimes we break fast at CUCMS because there is no time to cook or we're too tired... or class ends late. I had exam last week which was meant to begin at 6pm. But since there was class straight from the morning, we didnt have time to pray asar so when class ended at 6pm, prayed and sat for the exam which was by then 6:30pm. So we did the exam and by around 7:20pm, we could hear the azan already and amirah was like "Sir, sir, Dah boleh buke puase!>_<" So our lecturer took our karipap and apam balik and we broke our fast with that:D while having our exam. Lol.

Had bebuke at Adni today. To protect my princess from Ninjas. She is lucky to have me as her saviour:)

Reasons why.

this morning i agreed with aqilah to meet up at adni and study. Okay, it's more of me forcing her; but only because i absolutely could not focus on getting any work done at home... and I've been putting off my Bahasa Kebangsaan Folio. Funny thing is, when i tried to do my folio, I couldn't write a single sentence down without having the structure all wrong.. So I wrote everything in English and later on translated it to Malay. There were some I couldn't really translate so credit goes to Aki for helping me fix it up.

Aki got bored after a while and suddenly iman called. So she invited us over and we just chit chatted and got down to planning Gen05 raya gathering. Finally!:)

Thats all.

a thousand splendid suns

I squealed in delight when tariq told laila: "That I only have eyes for you."

I held my breath when abdul sharif bore the bad news; that tariq died.

I screamed in disgust when Rasheed said he wanted to marry Laila and his courtshipping.

I felt so mad when that officer stopped laila and mariam from going and he returned them to rasheed.

I was scared out of my wits whenever rasheed was in the picture.

I felt tears every time laila remembers her memories with tariq.

I cried when tariq came back and cried when mariam was sentenced to death

I cried again when laila read jalil's letter.

Aaah tariq... what is a book without the hero, the saviour, the protagonist?

To those who have been weirded out by my unpredictable random outbursts, i do apologize. thank u for bearing with me. Specially to aki who didn't understand head or tail what was going on but still 'reassured' me when tariq died and 'yay-ed' with me when he came back! Even my brothers stare at me and say I am weird. I cannot help it. The story is THAT gripping. I haven't read such a good book in a long time and it really kept me enchanted until the last word.

free

no comment:P

This morning went to Adni's Merdeka celebration together with syarif and ahmad, more so because safi and siraj were performing. If I didn't go out, I'd still be in bed til God knows when... It was really wonderful to see the teachers again and the other students. I sound like I've not seen them for so long... In reality, i go there more often than all my batch put together:P (i think that's true..)Absorbed: Syarif with his ever-"obliviousness" when it comes to reading books. Yes, he's reading.

I've been so addicted to The Kite Runner, I couldn't help but look for Khaled Houssein's second book. So I asked ahmad 'Let's go to Kino!:D" and after much coaxing and pleading and persuading, he finally gave in. I've not been to a bookstore for sooo long, I felt breathless and so bedazzled in Kino. The idea was to get the book and go. But there were so many books... so many genres... so many choices... so many smooth covered inviting books... and I had to keep telling myself... "Must... not... give ... in". Finally found the book. If not for Ahmad wanting to go back and Syarif being hungry, I would have stayed in there til forever. Lol.. Finally I got the second book; A Thousand Splendid Suns. Which I am still holding myself back because I want to read it for when I go back to JOhor:D

Weird: -_-"

eating.

My housemates seem to wonder how I seem to eat so fast. I really don't know either but when they ask aloud, I'd just answer I don't know or that it's not that I eat fast; people just eat slow. Lol. But during lunch the other day, I was eating with Azra and Kaktqa and after lunch, she said; Alia, I noticed the way you eat.

Me: Okaaaaay.... -_-"

Azrae: It's not that you eat fast. But rather the technique you eat.

Me: (thinking) technique??? I have a technique???

Azrae: Well, ysee, it's just that you chew and then you swallow and straight away have another spoonful. THat way, it's more efficient because other people don't really do that.

Me: O_o you observed the way i eat??

Azrae: I like to observe peope. (smiles)

So there you go, people (like Iman). Who says I eat fast and like such a swallower. I have eating technique!:DMerepek-ers: Alia and Azrae sp. during Tasputra Perkim event

How more chinesey-er can I get? I was making faces like I always do while someone is readying to take a picture, especially if it's Aki (which in this case was).
